My Life in Motion

Knowing Me

I am who I am, and who I am is me. I am the sum of every conscious and unconscious decision I have ever made, and every decision that has ever been made for me without my say-so. I am a work in progress.

Born in Scotland, I spent most of my life in the Northern Hemisphere, but I now live in New Zealand and enjoy the life that the Southern Hemisphere offers. My most prized possession is my passport and I’ve had itchy feet since my first adventure to Canada when I was 19. I’ve visited every continent apart from Antarctica, but in reality I’ve seen so little of the world, and I look forward to seeing more.

My second love is cetaceans, and I love getting out to sea to see them in their natural habitat, but the great outdoors in general is my playground, and I love nothing more than to get outside and go exploring, whether it’s up in the mountains or on the coast. Life is for living, so live it well.

I now have a separate blog dedicated to photographs from my travels, and you can follow me on Instagram too.

Hi, Misty … i came across your profile because we’re coming to NZ for 7 weeks in January of 2016 and I found the site that said you are the ‘ambassador’ for the Christ Church area for ex-pats (I’m trying to find housing for myself and family–total 4 of us, near the University of Canterbury). However, it looks like you might be traveling (y hablando el espanol! Que lastima que no estes in New Zealand, podriamos tener un intercambio de espanol cuando estoy alli!). Sorry to bug you, but do you have any tips on finding housing in that area?? Many thanks!

    • ¡Hola! ¿Como estas? ¿De donde eres?
What exactly are you looking for? Self catered accommodation for rent? Shared apartment? Hotel/hostel? Is it the main campus of the university & does it need to be within walking distance or accessible by transport? I’m in Ecuador at the minute with quite poor Wifi but if you give me more info I’ll do my best to help you out.

    Hi Fiona,

I was so happy to come across your blog. I’ve recently returned from a short time in Galapagos. I am making a small website just to show my friends and family. I’m wondering if you would allow me to use some of your photos (with credit, of course!!)… I may someday make the website publicly viewable, but for now my plan is a private WordPress site that I share via password.

It was inspiring to read about all your travels. You’re a great writer and photographer! P.S., besides the Galapagos, two of my favorite travel destinations *ever* are Scotland and N.Z.!

    Best,
    Ellen

    • I hope you enjoyed your time in the Galapagos – it is a special place. You are welcome to use my photos with credit and a link to my blog. I’m flattered that you like them so much. You have good taste in countries too 😆

  3. Hey Misty, just a quick note to say you’re our ‘Blog of the Week’ this week. We both love your blog so it’s just our little way of passing it on.

  4. Hi Fi,
For the past couple of weeks we’ve been writing about how we’re simplifying our life – and we invited you to share your thoughts on the subject. The response was wonderful! Thanks so much.
We loved reading your real-life experiences and have included them in our next post with a shout out to you and link to your blog. It will be published next Monday, July 29.
Thanks again. You made our day!
